“Why do you work so hard?”

“Why do you work so hard?”

We have an appointment at a place in the Amsterdam forest near the Historical Kiosk. It is a lovely sunny day and the sky is clear blue. She has covered the 50 km from home through the vast meadows on her fancy carbon steed. Cool off, have a drink and download, it’s been a tough week.

She has covered the 50 km from home through the vast meadows on her fancy carbon steed.

Refreshed, we go into the woods for a brisk walk and a robust conversation. The question from the previous walking coach session did not let go of her: “Why do you work so hard?” During the walk, my questions become more penetrating, we investigate what really drives her and along the way bump into intense experiences in the past and the patterns learned from there. Not everything can be pronounced yet, much has been hidden away for a long time. As she walks, her inner voice wakes up, still soft and unaccustomed. We listen and the silences get longer

The confrontations are loving and also firm, it is often uncomfortable and at the same time provides insight.

Walking outside, nature joins in. It shows the light and the dark, the birds, a butterfly and natural obstacles at striking moments in the conversation. The confrontations are loving and also firm, it is often uncomfortable and at the same time provides insight. And over time also space and air. A deep sigh follows.

While I make something tasty to eat, she can relax in the grass for a while. Some time for yourself. The peace that is often lacking in her daily professional and private life.

The first step to her original self has been taken, the first step to being in freedom.

After dinner she gets on her racing bike for the return journey through the once again vast meadows of the Randstad. A breath of fresh air and time for reflection and contemplation. The first step to her original self has been taken, the first step to being in freedom. And I clean up and cherish these moments and the beautiful people in my path.

It is so recognisable that by working hard we don’t have room to look at ourselves. Caught in the daily routine and patterns, which makes life pass you by and you wonder which movie you ended up in.

Do you ever wonder why you work so hard? And why changing your life is so incredibly complicated. Do you know how decisive your (unconscious) patterns are for the things you do and the choices you make? Do you want to experience freedom and be at the wheel yourself? Feel free to contact me so that we can take the first step together.

Go deeper with both feet on the ground. Lovingly confrontational and in connection with nature.
